EURO RSCG wins ú3m Aero sports shoe task

EURO RSCG Wnek Gosper has pipped Bainsfair Sharkey Trott to the Aero USA sports shoe account, worth ú3.2m over three years.

Aero USA had originally planned to launch the brand in the UK using Saatchi & Saatchi subsidiary Wavelength Creative Marketing, but split from the agency after disagreements over payments (MW February 10).

Knight Leagas Delaney, Banks Hoggins O’Shea, and Mission, a part of Marshall Communications, also pitched for the business. But Aero USA’s manager in the UK, Peter Reynolds, says the final decision was between EURO RSCG and BST.

The appointment puts EURO RSCG in the frame for more of the company’s work, possibly for launches in Germany and South Africa.

The UK launch has been delayed until at least May, as the company was planning a joint programme in the UK and South Africa.

Aero USA says Nelson Mandela was expected to share a podium with Muhammed Ali, Aero USA’s majority stake-holder, for the South Africa launch, but Reynolds says this has been delayed.
