Procter & Gamble has lost a senior marketing director. He fills a year-long vacancy at frozen food retailer Iceland.

P&G’s Andy Brent, marketing director for household cleaning products, is to join Iceland in the next two weeks, more than a year after Iceland made its last marketing director, Derek Harris, redundant.

P&G director of corporate affairs Dick Johnson says that Brent is leaving to join Iceland but refused to comment on who would fill the post.

The chain announced it was to bolster its trading board with a new marketing director, but refused to give details (MW last week).

Brent joined P&G in 1981 as a graduate trainee. He is in charge of large P&G brands such as Flash, Fairy and Lenor.

Brent will report to Iceland’s new group board director for trading strategy, Mark Hudson, appointed two weeks ago from Iceland’s consultancy Bain.

The chain is giving frozen foods a new focus to sharpen its high street image. It appointed WCRS to its ú7m account last July.

Day-to-day marketing has been carried out by marketing controller Derek Lloyd since the departure of Derek Harris.
