The Prince’s Trust strikes retailer deal

Prince Charles’ personal charity The Prince’s Trust is preparing joint marketing deals with clothes manufacturers, banks and fast-food outlets.

The Prince’s charity has entered an agreement with Sleepy Kids – a company specialising in merchandise and children’s animation.

The deal, backed by the Prince, comes one week after the launch of the Duchy soft drinks range from the Prince’s company Duchy Originals.

Sleepy Kids will work with major retailers to produce Prince’s Trust branded goods. Five to 20 per cent of the value of the goods sold will be donated to the charity. Goods produced under the agreement will carry The Prince’s Trust brand but, contrary to press reports, will not carry a picture of Charles.

The Princes’ Trust new business development director Ellen Clark says talks have begun with retailers this week but no deals have been struck. Plans include a clothing range, a branded credit card and a tie-up with a fast-food chain – with a percentage of profits going to the charity.
