It’s all in a good cause!

In this time of moral crusades against the “cancer of bent and twisted journalism”, when Conservative politicians are taking up the “sword of truth and the shield of British fair play” to protect the world from the ravages of investigation, far be it for the Diary to add to the squalid mire.

But what were McCann-Erickson chairman David Warden, creative director Jerry Green and finance director Gil Gingell doing wandering around the agency’s London office dressed up as dinner ladies? Allegedly, the trio were raising money for the Help a London Child charity campaign – a favourite cause with the agency, which hopes to raise ú10,000 to support its work.

Sources say they seemed to enjoy dressing up and fear that the charity “exercise” has released something in all three of them that they have been trying to suppress: a yearning for their youth and school meals. The public interest needs to be satisfied.
