Northern Dairies abolishes senior role

Northern Foods will not replace former marketing director Martin Jamieson who quit his post at milk delivering subsidiary Northern Dairies last month (MW March 31).

A spokesman for the parent group said that his responsibilities would be overseen by Robin Robb who is the senior marketing executive at Northern Foods. Robb will now have a second office at Dairies’ Wakefield HQ.

Extra responsibilities will be be delegated to the three senior marketing executives left at Northern Dairies.

Jamieson’s departure came after the loss of 2,200 jobs at the parent group. This was attributed to changes in the milk distribution system imposed by the Government last year.

The senior executive left behind is Alex Robertson who oversees the group’s doorstep milk business – a sector under severe pressure in recent years.

The other two executives who will now have enhanced roles are Mike Tunstall and Sue Butland, who handles the group’s market intelligence activities.
