Paper products giant Jamont has appointed Bates Dorland to handle its ú40m pan-Euro-pean brand-building advertising campaign.

Bates Dorland fought against Young & Rubicam and TBWA in a pitch organised by Agency Assessments on behalf of Jamont’s Brussels headquarters.

Jamont will not comment on the appointment but says it will make a statement about its strategic plans at the end of this week.

The business was previously handled by McCann-Erickson but the agency resigned in January when it picked up the conflicting Scott Paper account in continental Europe.

Bates Dorland is expected to build the Dixcel toilet tissue brand across Jamont’s 12 European markets. It will also handle the Kittensoft toilet tissue brand, French sanpro range Vania, and Jamont’s other paper products.

A number of Jamont products are available only in restricted markets and it is understood that Jamont intends to build these into pan-European brands.
