Grampian Country Foods to move into own-brand arena

BYLN:

Grampian Country Foods, one of the country’s largest food producers and suppliers of own-label brands to Sainsbury’s and Marks & Spencer, is launching its own-branded range of food products.

The food group has asked DFSD Bozell, the Leith Agency and Lansdown Conquest to pitch for the national launch of chicken portions aimed at the children’s market.

The business will initially be worth 600,000, going up to 2m after three years.

The new, as yet unnamed, brand will be launched in August and Grampian is said to be developing a brand targeted at the adult market.

The company, based in Aberdeen, with an annual turnover of 320m, has until recently concentrated its activities on production and supply of poultry and pork.

In December last year, it moved into the red meat market with the acquisition of two meat processing companies from the John Rhind group.
