Disney Channel hunts shop to run autumn launch push

BYLN:

The channel has already contacted a number of shops, though it has yet to draw up a shortlist. The station is offered as a “premium bonus” channel for 16 hours a day to satellite and cable subscribers to Sky Movies and The Movie Channel.

The Disney Channel is due to launch in the UK in October and last week Tom Wszalek joined from the Disney Channel in the US as managing director and John Keeling from Sky as director of programmes. At Sky, Keeling was responsible for the day-to-day running of the movie channel.

The company would give no details about its advertising plans, confining itself to a terse statement. “The Disney Channel has contacted a number of different agencies but no decision has been made yet.”

It is also understood to be hunting a marketing director for the launch. Disney also has a joint deal with CLT Multi Media to run Super RTL in Germany and has launched in Taiwan.
