Maybe the Diary is just getting old, but it cannot understand all the sexy talk that’s sprung up around soft drinks recently. First there was a can of Tango making dirty phone calls, then Richard Branson cavorting in a giant bed with Pamela Anderson and a can of Virgin Energy.
Now it appears that even the innocent Snapple drink is getting the British public excited. The following are edited highlights from letters sent to the newly created Snapple Fan Club by some of its most ardent teenage fans: “I was hoping you could send me a T-Shirt enabling me to dream about the drink” (Esther, London); “My friends don’t seem to understand why I enjoy these drinks so much. I’ve tried explaining, but it seems impossible” (Michalea, Stratford); and the Diary’s personal favourite: “When I touch his (Snapple’s) lips my hair stands on end and my heart beats between my ribs… he adds to my fun on a hot summer’s day” (a very disturbed Chantell, London).
These eager missives are arriving for drinks that sound as innocent as Pink Lemonade. The Diary can’t wait to read the letters if the US brand Passion Supreme ever reaches the UK.
