Virgin Radio programme director Suzy Mayzel will leave Virgin in August. Her departure is for family reasons, the station insists, and is unconnected with reports that Virgin 1215 listening slipped in April. Virgin says a decline in London listening for the national station was inevitable as listeners switched to the London FM service.

Hill Murray has picked up the 2m-plus media planning and buying business for Fidelity Investments. Hill Murray handled the business from 1992 until 1994, when it moved to Initiative Media.

The BBC has appointed Marcus Bicknell, former commercial director of the Astra satellite company, as managing director of its two European satellite channels: BBC Prime and World.
