Camelot’s new franchise venture company, Camelot Enterprises, has been forced to change its name. At the same time, it is appointing the parent company’s marketing director, John Kinsey, as its new chief.
Camelot Enterprises will change its name to National Lottery Enterprises after it discovered a firm of the same name operates in Stockport, Cheshire.
The National Lottery operator believes the new name “is a more accurate description of our activities”. These include promoting the Lottery brand via products such as T-shirts and other clothing, and could include endorsing leading products.
The Stockport-based company has interests in clothing, which is one of the areas the Camelot subsidiary intends to pursue.
Proceeds from such deals go to charities in the same proportion as proceeds from the Lottery.
Camelot advertised for a managing director for the subsidiary in January, but says it has been unable to find the right candidate. Instead, Kinsey will extend his role, as executive director.
The subsidiary’s sales and marketing is headed by Robin Bowler. Heather Bobby, previously of Manor Bakeries, has been appointed product director, and Dominic Furey from Abbey Home Entertainment has been appointed as licensing manager.
