Lunn Poly starts currency service

The UK’s biggest travel agent, Lunn Poly, is installing bureaux de change in all its 763 shops by the end of the month.

The roll-out into all the company’s shops follows successful trials of the service in selected outlets.

Leaflets have been made available in shops and sales assistants are briefed to offer foreign currency as an add-on service.

The installation of bureaux brings the chain in line with its rivals in the fiercely competitive market.

Going Places has bureaux de change in 297 of its 671 shops. The tour operator plans to install them in any refurbished or new shop, with the number rising to 350 by the end of the year.

All Thomas Cook’s 385 shops offer the service.

Bureaux de change make money for the company not just when selling currency, but also when buying it back. They also help to keep customers in-house.
