The Diary can’t help feeling a touch sorry for Matthew Foster, senior account manager at JWT Manchester. He turned up at a model casting session for the latest executions for The Manchester Evening News and was probably more than a little chuffed when the photographer rejected all the models and opted to use Foster instead. Alas, Foster’s first assignment was less glamorous than he had perhaps hoped. The North-West of England was hit by a series of flash floods, and Foster had to be sprayed with freezing cold water for six hours to portray the story. The Diary commiserates with him on his timing. Just days later and the Hugh Grant story would have obliterated flash floods on the front page.
