UD man joins Drambuie to spearhead global push

Drambuie is recruiting its first sales and marketing director. His main responsibility will be to push the brand in international markets.

The company has appointed Michael Beamish to the post. He was previously external affairs director for United Distillers, where he devised strategies for the Duty Free operation. He also held roles in international sales and strategic affairs.

In the UK, Drambuie is distributed and marketed by the International Distillers & Vintners arm Gilbey Vintners. Beamish will work in partnership with IDV on developing the marketing strategy for Drambuie.

A spokeswoman for the company says: “This new position reflects the importance of international areas to the brand.” Beamish will work on the duty-free side and on developing new international markets.

He will report directly to Drambuie’s joint managing directors Malcolm and Duncan MacKinnon and be based at Kirkliston outside Edinburgh.

The brand launched its “distinctly unusual character” cinema ad campaign last October through Simons Palmer Denton Clemmow & Johnson.
