Wrangler starts hunt for marketing chiefs

Denim giant Wrangler is seeking two marketing chiefs for its UK and European operations.

Sue Childer, UK marketing manager, left last week after three years at the company to join Champion Sports in Barcelona. She had been in charge of Wrangler’s UK marketing since October last year, when the UK sales and marketing director role held by Mike Taylor was axed in a European shake-up. The new marketing manager will report to UK managing director Aidan O’Meara and work closely with the Brussels head office.

The company centralised its marketing for five European countries at the head office last October under marketing chief Barry Brennan. He left shortly afterwards to work for Independent Newspapers in Ireland.

Wrangler has also begun a search for a European marketing director, following the appointment of Bob Coppage as president of Wrangler Europe. Coppage joins from Wrangler Europe’s parent company, VF, in the US. He replaces Terry Lay, who is promoted to head VF’s European operation.

The new European marketing director will work closely with advertising agency TBWA on pan-European advertising.

In the UK, Wrangler is preparing a new execution for its “City Slickers” TV campaign, which is due to be aired in the UK at the end of the month.
