Bulpitt in line for top Lloyds role

Lloyds Bank is understood to be on the verge of promoting Mike Bulpitt to director of marketing for its new Retail Financial Services Division, which starts up in the new year.

Bulpitt, who is chief manager, marketing communications, is believed to be in line for the promotion as part of a complete overhaul of Lloyds’ retail banking operation.

Bulpitt will report to di rector of UK retail banking, Paul Brown, who will be managing director of Retail Financial Services.

He is in charge of advertising and below-the-line activity at the bank.

He says he is unaware of any decision about the marketing operation within the new division but says he understands all aspects of the retail banking operation are being considered.

Lloyds announced a restructure of its banking operations last month. The reorganisation involved the replacement of the Retail Banking Division with the Retail Financial Services Division next January.

The new division was formed following the purchase of Cheltenham & Gloucester building society, which now provides all specialist mortgage products for Lloyds and the separation of Lloyds Abbey Life, which provides insurance and unit trust products.

Retail Financial Services will focus on small business and personal markets.
