IMP poised to win 6m

Coca-Cola GB is about to hand over its entire 6m UK sports sponsorship promotion business to IMP.

Coca-Cola refused to comment as Marketing Week went to press, but sources say its roster sales promotion agency IMP will be confirmed as the victor of a four-way pitch against FKB, KLM and Tequila.

An announcement about the below-the-line win is expected next week.

The account covers the promotion work for Coke’s Euro 96 Football Championships, next year’s Coca-Cola Cup and the summer 1996 Olympic Games. Activity will cover all UK promotional work for Coke’s sponsorship deals including on-pack, trade, and in-store activity.

IMP is expected to start work on the account next week and then oversee all promotions in the run-up to the events, say sources.

IMP business development director John Quarrey confirmed that IMP had pitched for Coca-Cola business but refused to confirm the win.
