Airtours restructures marketing as director’s departure is denied

Airtours Holidays has split its sales and marketing roles at board level as part of a company-wide restructure. The move follows a swathe of redundancies.

Marketing director Richard Carrick will no longer be responsible for sales. The UK’s number-two tour operator says he will remain on the board of six with the title director of marketing and planning. This is despite press speculation about his imminent departure.

Sales will come under the control of Steve Endacott. His title changes from commercial director to sales director. Endacott will be responsible for sales and distribution.

The restructure follows last week’s redundancies, which included the loss of a small number of marketing and sales staff.

The Airtours group warned last month that profits could fall by as much as 25 per cent this year.

The changes mark the beginning of a new regime under managing director Peter Rothwell, former marketing director at Thomson, who joined Airtours in July.
