Guy Wesch, a former advertising agency boss, has been charged with murder.

Wesch, 61 and unemployed according to the police, was charged at Hendon Magistrates Court on October 2 with murdering Susan McCarthy, 55, at his home in North Finchley between 7pm on September 29 and 5am on September 30. He was remanded in custody.

Wesch last achieved prominence in the early Nineties when his agency Hemblen Jenkins & Wesch was taken over by the Lewis Broadbent agency, which was best known for handling the Gateway account.

Wesch became associate creative director at Lewis Broadbent, whose chairman, Hugh Lewis, was his former creative partner. The takeover gave the new agency billings of about 20m in 1991.

Hemblen Jenkins & Wesch held accounts including Bendicks chocolate, Hush Puppies shoes and Bentalls department stores.

The agency was founded when Hemblen and Wesch broke away from Roche Associates in 1986, before Roche went into liquidation.

Wesch had also worked at the now defunct Michael Robinson Associates in the late Seventies and early Eighties.
