The launch of Ergo, Bauer’s planned weekly news magazine, has been put back indefinitely following the departure of editor-in-chief Michael Gatermann. Hartmut Volz, who was originally installed as co-editor alongside Gatermann, left the title four months ago.

Hans Schmid, head of GGK, Vienna, has struck a collaborative deal with local agency Nagy & Zwinz. GGK hopes to tap into Nagy & Zwinz’s expertise in database marketing and new media.

Scholler-Budatej Bt, the Budapest ice cream company, has awarded its account to the local office of German agency Scholz & Friends. DDB Needham contested the final pitch. EURO RSCG previously hand-led the business.

Ingmar Bergman, the Swedish film director, came out of retirement to appear in a print campaign which protests at cuts imposed on Sweden’s radio service. The cuts principally affect funds allocated for the creation of new musical pieces. The ads were carried in the daily newspaper, Dagens Nyheter.

Centre Pompidou, the cultural institution in the centre of Paris, has chosen Publicis to handle all of its communications following a pitch that included BDDP, DDB, EURO RSCG BETC, Hintzy Heymann and Bates.

Sixpack, a new agency, has opened its doors in Dsseldorf. Its founding members will have an equal share in the company. They have all previously worked at Hildmann, Simon, Rempen & Schmitz.

Debis GFMO has been awarded German tobacco company Reemtsma’s DM100m (44m) centralised media account. The win ends 13 years of collaboration with HMS/Carat. Two other agencies pitched for the business.

Liberation, the French newspaper, is parting company with commercial director Michel Vidal-Subias, who has been with the paper since 1981. His departure follows shortly after that of ad director Michel Cros.

Brandt, the domestic appliances manufacturer, is reviewing its account in France. Incumbent agency Synergie, which has held the business since 1962, will compete against Young & Rubicam, BDDP, Ogilvy & Mather and BL/LB.

Wegert, the 100-store consumer electronics chain based in Berlin, has turned down Hamburg agencies Springer & Jacoby and Jung von Matt and opted instead for local agency Roentz & Partner. The account will be worth about DM10m (4.5m) next year.
