New blow for Hi-Tec Sports as md quits

Hi-Tec Sports UK, the troubled sports shoe company, has suffered a further blow with the departure of managing director Simon Rider.

Rider is the latest in a stream of top executives who have quit the company in the past 14 months. In that time, it has lost three managing directors, two sales directors, two finance directors, two non-executive directors and a marketing director.

Rider, who joined Hi-Tec last July from rival Converse, left last week to join a smaller rival sport shoe company, BK Sports, as European managing director. He replaces departing managing director Malcolm Nathan.

Hi-Tec chairman and company founder Frank van Wezel will take over the role of md.
