Reebok UK boss loses out in global shake-up

Reebok International UK marketing director David Lawrence leaves this month as part of final moves to close down the company’s Heathrow operations.

Lawrence, who has worked for Reebok for five years, is a casualty of the global restructure originating from the company’s head office in Massachusetts.

A spokeswoman for the company says the decision was taken to close down Reebok International in the UK as part of US plans to reorganise the company. The Reebok UK division will remain with its head office in Lancaster.

Last year the company announced plans to split its European sector into three divisions with European senior president Bruce Nevins going to the US as head of the international operation (MW September 8 1995).

Roger Best, who was made northern European vice-president, was last month appointed as senior vice-president and general manager of North America (MW January 26).

He has been replaced by David Singleton, former vice-president of Rockport International, the non-sports shoe subsidiary of Reebok.
