Agencies chase Scholl relaunch UK relaunch

Scholl Consumer Products is talking to advertising agencies about handling its UK account as part of a multi-million pound relaunch of its products.

The company plans to launch a campaign this year to change public perception that Scholl is shoe rather than foot healthcare oriented.

Scholl has announced its plans to overhaul the brand, including its design, logo and packaging, and to streamline the brand globally (MW October 13).

It is currently in talks with several UK agencies, and should make a decision in the next month. Scholl would not comment on the pitch.

However, a spokeswoman says Scholl was looking for an agency to help with readjusting the advertising in line with the relaunch.

Woollams Moira Gaskin O’Malley previously held the advertising for Scholl products such as its foot spray, odour attackers and rough skin remover until the agency was wound up in August last year.

The media account is currently held by BMP Solutions in Media Group.

Scholl is under new direction this year after managing director Peter Wrightson left. He was replaced this year by Jim Bradley.

Marketing controller Andrew Edyvean also left the company last month to take up a job at Sketchley as marketing manager of the textiles division.

Marketing manager Ian Kirsch is handling the advertising. The company is still seeking a group marketing director (MW April 21).

The relaunch was stalled last year after rebel shareholders staged an unsuccessful bid to replace non-executive directors and break up the company.
