Moulinex, the French white goods manufacturer, is understood to have seen pitches from incumbent BMP DDB and The Media Business for its 2m media buying account last week.

Omnicom is planning to buy or create a media independent in the US. Omnicom wants to consolidate the DDB and BBDO networks’ media buying into one operation across Europe.

Granada is looking for a senior executive to oversee its expanding TV interests, replacing Charles Allen who becomes chief executive in April. Allen replaces Gerry Robinson who becomes chairman.

The National Magazine Company is launching a bid for upmarket home interest advertising, with the launch of a section in Harpers & Queen devoted to interiors (right).

Capital Radio has unveiled details of its first bid for a regional radio licence. Yfm will be a young adult service for Yorkshire offering more than dance music. John Barnes, chairman of Harry Ramsden, has been appointed chairman for the Yfm bid (see media analysis p16).

East Midlands Broadcasting Company has confirmed plans to apply for the East Midlands regional licence advertising by the Radio Authority last week. EMBC has been formed by CLT-backed Investors in Radio.

Buspak, the bus advertising company, has rejected More O’Ferrall’s claims to be pioneering barcoding for the UK poster industry. Buspak says it has been barcoding its ads since last year. Mills & Allen is to adopt its system.

BBC sources have confirmed plans to review its daytime TV programming, including Good Morning with Anne and Nick. Rumours the show would be axed have been circulating for months. ITV’s This Morning has more than double Anne and Nick’s 1 million audience.

BBC World, the BBC’s 24-hour international news channel, is to launch in Holland after striking a cable carriage deal in The Hague. It has also secured space on a satellite covering South Asia.

MTV launches youth culture and lifestyle magazine Blah Blah Blah on March 14. The monthly magazine is a joint venture with US magazine publisher Ray Gun.

The National Magazine Company has reiterated its desire for publishers to release all Audit Bureau of Circulations figures for magazines on the same day.

Dennis Publishing men’s title Maxim has posted a first six-month Audit Bureau of Circulations figure of 98,067.
