Visa stamps out report mistakes

I would like to respond to the article “Track to the future” (MW February 9).

The article referred to Visa USA as one of the worldwide sponsors of the Olympic Games. The sponsor is actually Visa International. Visa USA is one of six regions for Visa International worldwide. The six regions are as follows – Visa Pacific, Visa Canada, Visa Central and Eastern Europe Middle East Africa (CMEA), Visa European Union (EU), Visa Latin America, and Visa USA.

Also mentioned in the copy: “The Atlanta committee has decided that Amex, and other credit cards and charge cards will be accepted this year, despite Visa’s TOP position.” This is not true. Visa has been a sponsor of the Olympic Games since 1986, and has retained its exclusivity as the only payment card accepted on-site at the Olympics in Atlanta.
