Delaney tipped for 3m Oasis win

Oasis Holidays is tipped to appoint Delaney Fletcher Bozell to handle the estimated 3m launch advertising for its holiday villages.

The new division of the Rank Organisation is building the villages at a cost of 100m each.

Rank plans to roll out Oasis at three sites by the year 2000 and the villages will rival the Scottish & Newcastle-owned Center Parcs.

The first site will open at Whinfell near Penrith in Cumbria in summer 1997, though launch advertising will begin this autumn. Villages include country clubs, restaurants, shops, health and beauty centres and nature trails; each will serve about 3,500 guests.

A second village is due to open near Folkestone in 1998, although this has drawn protests from environmental groups.

DFB pitched against Abbott Mead Vickers.BBDO and Burkitt Edwards Martin for the account which was handled by new marketing director Antonio Betes. Betes moves across from Warner Holidays, another division of Rank.

Rank already runs Butlin’s and Haven holiday operations but the new Oasis villages are designed to attract more affluent holidaymakers. Oasis managing director James Whittel is a former managing director of Butlin’s.
