Interfocus nets 5m Budget Rent a Car through the line

Interfocus has won the 5m Budget Rent a Car through-the-line account for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

The agency is understood to have beaten Rapier Stead & Bowden and Impact FCA! to the business which was formerly centralised through the Omnicom network worldwide.

DDB Needham handled the account on a full-service basis across Europe but declined to repitch for the business.

CIA Medianetwork will handle media, while the Group D agency will also work on the account in France.

The UK business is reported to be worth about 1.5m, while the full account across Europe, the Middle East and Africa could be worth up to 5m, sources suggest.

The review follows moves by the US-owned company to decentralise its decision-making process away from the States. European marketing director Paul Johnson instigated the review at the start of the year.

As well as two creative briefs which will be executed in the forthcoming campaign Budget also issued a brief to the agencies asking how they will work together in the UK and France.
