NEWS ROUND UP

News round-up gives readers an at-a-glance overview of this month’s customer loyalty news.

European Passenger Services, the company which operates the Eurostar trains, is looking for an agency to help it set up a loyalty programme aimed at business travellers. EPS already uses Grey Direct for direct marketing and has built up a database of potential customers from cold mailings and responses to its above-the-line ads.

Chrysler Jeep Imports UK is to spend 250,000 on a loyalty scheme. Devised by Bozell Marketing Services, the scheme will combine telemarketing, database marketing and targeted mailings to support the UK’s 94 franchised Jeep dealers in their customer communications.

Shearings, the coach-travel holiday operator, has set up a loyalty scheme with discount-card company Countdown – called the Privilege Travellers Club. Shearings hopes to get 20,000 members for its frequent-user scheme within six months.

Asda has appointed Andy Bond as its customer-loyalty project manager. Bond, formerly events manager with the company, will examine all aspects of loyalty, not just the possibility of launching a loyalty card.
