Whitbread Inns takes on new marketing director

Whitbread Inns, the branded pub division of the brewing giant, has appointed Martin Womack as sales and marketing director. He takes the place of Stewart Miller, who is to become managing director of Whitbread Pub Partnerships.

Womack was formerly managing director of Whitbread’s regional company Sherwood Inns. He will be responsible for the 1,650 Whitbread Inns themed pubs, including the 290-strong Brewers Fayre chain, as well as Wayside Inns, Hoggs Head Ale Houses and new branded concepts such as Pitcher’s.

Womack has held other senior roles across Whitbread divisions.

The shake-up comes after a reshuffle of top managers within Whitbread.

Managing director of Whitbread Pub Partnerships, Bill Shannon, is to become the managing director of Whitbread Inns. He takes the place of Wess van Riemsdijk, who is on extended sick leave.

Whitbread Beer Company restructured its marketing department last month (MW February 16) in an attempt to create a “flatter structure”. Business development director Frazer Thompson became strategic development director.
