The company which markets the lagers Sol, Dos EquÃs, Steinlager and Tiger in the UK has gone into receivership.
Dolomore, formed last September from the merger of beer distributor Maison Caurette and wine company Latchford Wine Holdings, called in receivers from Arthur Anderson last week.
Arthur Anderson made half the workforce of 130 redundant on Friday. It aims to stabilise Dolomore’s supplies and is seeking a buyer.
The future of the brands could be complicated though because most major distributors already have existing premium lager portfolios. The receivership also raises doubts about the future of senior management, including marketing director Catherine Blackburn and managing director Christopher Townsend
A spokesman for Arthur Anderson was unable to confirm any of the individuals who have lost their jobs. “The situation is not terribly encouraging at the moment. We are talking to possible purchasers, and some interest has been shown. It is reaching a critical juncture.”
The collapse of Dolomore comes after mounting losses at Maison Caurette, which has been losing about 2m a year.
