CLT picks chief to steer fledgling sales division

Former Independent Radio Sales managing director Stan Park is to join CLT UK Radio Sales as commercial director.

Park will oversee both the Talk Radio UK and Atlantic 252 sales teams. He will also be closely involved in establishing the structure and organisation of the new sales arm.

CLT UK Radio Sales was formed last month by parent group CLT to handle sales for CLT’s UK radio interests. The company is understood to be seeking a general manager or managing director to work alongside Park.

“The aim is to establish CLT as the UK’s leading radio player,” Park says. It is an internal sales division and does not plan to take on third-party business, he adds. “I am certainly not planning to set up a new sales house.”

News of Park’s appointment comes as Talk Radio launches its new week-day programme schedule.

Paul Ross has taken over the breakfast show slot. Scott Chisholm is to present a mid-morning show replacing Jonathan King, who has left the station.

London News Radio presenter Peter Deeley has joined to present the drive-time show. Other new features include a nightly sports strand from 7pm to 10pm.

At the weekend, Sean Bolger takes over the breakfast slot, Simon Fanshawe takes over Saturday morning and David Starkey moves to Sundays between 10am and 1pm. Saturday afternoon sports from 1pm to 7pm will run as two shows: a pre-match programme and a results-driven service.

Meanwhile, London News Radio head of promotions and sponsorship Alexis Thompson is moving to Talk Radio as promotions manager.
