BP appoints retail marketer to head rejigged operation
BP Oil UK has hired Tesco marketing controller Sally Bye to take control of its restructured marketing department.
The company previously divided its marketing in two, with a fuel department dealing with petrol and diesel, and a separate department for its shops, which includes forecourt outlets and the Express shopping concept.
After the departure of head of fuels marketing Gerry Abram, who left to join Bass Taverns as director of retail sales (MW April 5), BP restructured the marketing department.
Bye will head the combined marketing operation, which is to be integrated over coming weeks. The position of head of marketing for retail is to be axed, and Julia Hanson, who holds the position, will be moved to another job within BP. It is not thought the restructure will cause further job redundancies. Bye’s title at BP will be marketing manager for retail.
At Tesco, Bye is marketing controller for bakery, grocery and food services. She has been with the company for seven years, having joined as a graduate trainee.
