Columbia Tristar begins search for new UK marketing director

Film distributor Columbia Tristar, which most recently has had hits with Sense and Sensibility and Jumanji, is understood to be looking for a UK director of marketing.

The post will become vacant following the promotion of its present occupant Jon Anderson. He holds the title of director of advertising and publicity manager, the equiv-alent of marketing director.

Anderson is taking over the role vacated by Nigel Clark, the vice president of marketing for Europe, Middle East and Africa based in London. Clark is moving to Los Angeles to take on the role of senior vice president of worldwide marketing at the company. He will report to Columbia Tristar’s British president Duncan Clark.

Columbia Tristar spent around 5m (Register-MEAL) through K Advertising in the year to the end of 1995 supporting films including Indian in the Cupboard and Legends of the Fall.

Columbia Tristar’s record earning film in the UK is thought to be Hook, starring Robin Williams, though Jumanji is understood to be on the brink of breaking this record.
