Your article “J Sainsbury plans group-wide card” (MW May 17) talked about the demise of the Homebase Spend & Save card.

The article is nothing more than speculation, and has no basis in fact. Spend & Save was one of the first loyalty cards in UK retailing, and remains the most successful in its sector.

The card plays an integral role in the current and future marketing strategy for the combined Homebase and Texas chain, and there are categorically no plans to drop it.
