Ex-Microsoft chief joins multimedia agency

Former Microsoft head of UK advertising Janet Kilpatrick has joined multimedia hardware company Creative Laboratories as head of European marketing and will kick off an advertising review.

Kilpatrick, who left Microsoft eleven months ago, will be responsible for strategy and personnel across western Europe for the company.

Kilpatrick worked as a consultant in channel marketing for IBM for nine months, before joining Creative Laboratories.

Kilpatrick’s role at Creative Laboratories will be to raise the profile of the ten-year-old Singapore-based company which employs 4,000 people worldwide. Last year the business claimed profits of 900m.

She added: “This company makes a range of multi-media up-grades for PC’s but our name isn’t sufficiently connected to them. I want to change that with a more coherent marketing strategy.”

She added the company was about to tender for an “experienced” ad agency to work in press right across their European territories.
