MediaTel launches ‘Media Village’ Web site
Media computing systems company MediaTel has launched Media Village, a “Net community” on the Internet, catering to the media buying and advertising industries.
Media Village contains the Web sites of nine media trade associations and companies, such as the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising, the Periodical Publishers’ Association and research company AGB.
As well as the industry’s home pages, it will also carry a media forum page, called Media Village Pub, intended to carry formal and informal discussions and gossip about the industry. There will also be a database, known as the Village Post Office, listing contacts and e-mail addresses within the media.
There will also be a media training and careers site, with a job search database, a glossary of industry terms and career advice. It will also be possible to buy media publications on-line from relevant industry bodies.
“More organisations will be joining Media Village over the next few months,” says Derek Jones, managing director of MediaTel. “By assembling a number of major information companies under one roof we can get around the problems created by the Internet’s growth rate.”
