Abbott Mead Vickers.BBDO has been appointed to handle the media planning and buying for the relaunch of London News Radio under the revived LBC brand. Creative work will be handled by AMV subsidiary McBains.

Associated Newspapers has appointed Kevin Beattie, managing director of Scotland’s Daily Record, as managing director of The Mail on Sunday.

BMP DDB is expected to rebrand its media department as a media independent within the next three months. It will remain in the same building.

Sunday Business has declined to comment on rumours that Kevin Morley, former head of Kevin Morley Marketing, is planning to invest in the title now it has secured protection from bankruptcy by going into administration. Arc Advertising contested the administration order in court.

MTV Europe is planning a week of late-night gay and lesbian programming from June 24.

The New Statesman has appointed Magnus Macintyre, formerly at Business & Technology magazine, as managing director. He will take on advertising, sales and marketing.

Granada Hospitality is planning a digital satellite radio station broadcasting news, information and music to its satellite stations.
