Inspirations’ Torrilla takes on marketing

Inspirations Holidays, the package holiday group, has restructured its operation and appointed Francis Torrilla to the new post of marketing director.

Torrilla joined Inspirations at the start of the year as a product director for its Spanish region.

Prior to that, he worked first for Owners Abroad (now First Choice) and Airtours. Over the past 11 years, he has held the posts of overseas operations manager, project manager and product manager.

The restructure ensures that each director is responsible for a specific area. It also involves creating two other directorships, one for new development, operations and quality control, and the other for information technology.

The appointment of a marketing director follows continuing speculation in the travel industry that Vic Fatah, Inspirations ebullient group chief executive and Inspirations Holidays managing director, would step down from the day-to-day running of the organisation.

Torrilla’s appointment comes shortly after the company launched a promotional campaign which misfired. It ran a trade initiative offering vouchers for the Ann Summers sex shop chain with the strapline: “Have a stiff one on us”. The campaign was axed after Fatah admitted it had been ill-judged.
