The City of York is launching the First Stop York campaign in an effort to establish York as a major conference and tourist destination. For the first time in ten years, the public and private sectors in the city have joined forces and are putting 95,000 behind the York push.

Manchester’s Victoria & Albert Hotel has unveiled new executive accommodation and extended conference and banqueting facilities.

The first occupational standards and vocational qualifications (NVQs) for those working in the events industry are being launched at the M&IT Show on June 26 in an open seminar being held by the Association for Conferences and Events and the Events Sector Industry Training Organisation.

The Corporate Entertainment Directory for 1996 has just been published. The directory is distributed to over 60,000 UK companies and contains information on where to book activities. At the same time, the 20th edition of the ACE Buyer’s Guide has been retitled and restyled as Who’s Who in the Meetings Industry. The publication contains more than 500 entries.
