Japanese sports brand Mizuno is using the Euro 96 championships as a platform to launch a pan-European advertising campaign on satellite TV promoting its football boots. The campaign, which features stars including David Platt and Jamie Rednapp of England, has been developed by production house Domino following a pitch against French and German advertising agencies. The account is worth 2m and the new initiative is on the back of an outdoor campaign which has already broken. The Mizuno brand was launched in the UK in 1990 and has not been advertised since 1992. A spokeswoman for the company says: ‘Our distribution is set up in the UK, France and Germany. It seems sensible to combine budgets and run a pan-European campaign.’
