Fuji recruits top marketer

Film giant Fuji has appointed Christopher Hobbs to the top marketing post for its consumer photographic division.

Hobbs, who will be divisional manager, joins from 3M, where he is sales and marketing manager at its consumer audio and video tape arm.

He will take up the role in early September. Hobbs will be in charge of the sales and marketing for this key part of the business, and report to UK managing director Tofhio Nakamura.

Hobbs’ initial role will be to lead Fuji in its battle to keep its share of the Advanced Photo System business. The technology was developed by five photographic companies, including Fuji and Kodak, at a cost of 750m. Fuji claims it has established a 60 per cent market share.

Hobbs will also be responsible for maintaining the 35mm technology, as well as continuing to introduce digital cameras to the UK.

He replaces Roy Sealy who left the company in February.
