IDV international director to head J&B

Drinks company IDV is moving its director for international marketing, Chris Banks, to the position of chief executive of its Justerini & Brooks whisky division.

Banks joined IDV this January from Allied Domecq, where he was European marketing director. At IDV he has been responsible for brands including Baileys, Jack Daniel’s and Blue Nun.

His latest move has been sparked by a shake-up at J&B, which markets the J&B whisky brand worldwide. Managing director David Maxwell Scott has been appointed chairman, a position vacant since James Bruxner retired last year.

Banks’ new chief executive position supersedes the managing director’s role. He will be responsible for the development and marketing of the J&B brand and IDV’s other Scotch whiskies, Knockando and Singleton, throughout the world.

No replacement for his previous role has yet been announced.

IDV is also looking for a replacement for Paul Curtis, its president of international marketing, who is moving over to parent company Grand Metropolitan as overall marketing director.
