Columbia Tristar recruits new UK marketing chief

Film distributor Columbia Tristar, which most recently has had hits with Sense and Sensibility and Jumanji, is appointing Maggie

Monteith to head its marketing in the UK.

Monteith will join in August from the Grey Advertising divi sion Gem, and take on the title of director of UK advertising and publicity.

She will be responsible for all marketing, as well as advertis ing and publicity for Columbia Tristar.

Monteith takes up a post vac-ated when Jon Anderson was promoted to vice president of marketing for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (MW May 24). He is based in London.

This was the role vacated by Nigel Clark who moved to Los Angeles to take up the post of sen-ior vice president of worldwide marketing for the company.

Clark reports to another Briton, Duncan Clark, who is Columbia Tristar’s president.

The film company has a yearly advertising budget of about 5m (Register-MEAL), through K Advertising, to support films including Legends of the Fall.

Most recently, Columbia Tristar has distributed Dark Skies, a sci-fi series which has just been purchased by Channel 4.
