French goods seller in review of ad agencies

Sopexa, the company which promotes French food and wine, is understood to be talking to agencies.

Sources say the marketing and promotional body wants to consolidate its advertising needs. It has used K Advertising, the Brompton Agency, Ardley Phillips Horrell and two Dublin-based agencies, Doherty Advertising and Padbury Advertising, for previous campaigns.

Products marketed by Sopexa include French apples, Armagnac brandy, Calvados, Côte du Rhones, Alsaces and Saumur wines.

Nicola Peers, Sopexa (UK) marketing director, refuses to confirm or deny speculation of a review.

Sopexa’s advertising campaigns include the Vin de Pays campaign, which was aimed at upmarket wine drinkers aged 25 to 54.

It was backed by extensive below-the-line activity including in-store wine sampling and consumer exhibitions. Ad campaigns for French cheeses and apples have also run in recent years.
