United Airlines is reviewing its $100m (70m) account held by Leo Burnett for the past 31 years. The company has shortlisted the incumbent, Young & Rubicam, Ogilvy & Mather, Saatchi & Saatchi, J Walter Thompson, TBWA and Fallon McElligott.

NatWest has confirmed that advertising agency Ammirati Puris Lintas is now a full roster agency. Previously it said it had been assigned special project work, formerly held by Bartle Bogle Hegarty.

Sega’s entry into the PC CD-Rom market is accompanied by a 250,000 press campaign through Young & Rubicam and will run in the national broadsheets as well as computer titles. Two executions have been created to promote Virtua Fighter PC, the game the company will use to lead into this format. One features football players’ agent Eric Hall (above) and the other a skinhead.

Delaney Fletcher Bozell has been appointed by the Royal Brompton Hospital to advertise a national fundraising venture called The Heart of Britain campaign. Bozell will create TV and cinema ads to raise 500,000.

GGT is understood to have joined the bidding for the BDDP Group in Paris. It will be competing against Grey, Cordiant and WPP. The price, between $150m and $200m (100m to 150m) would require GGT to make a rights issue.

Death, religion and bad language are likely to offend the general public according to a survey commissioned by the Advertising Standards Authority. Seventy one per cent of respondents felt that bad language or rude gestures were unacceptable. The words thought to be most unacceptable for use on posters are “fuck” (77 per cent) and “prick” (70 per cent) followed by “arsehole” (68 per cent) – which was used in GGT’s Holsten Pils anti-drink driving Christmas campaign.

Warner-Lambert’s shaving products group has moved its $70m (45m) global account out of Ogilvy & Mather and consolidated it into J Walter Thompson. However, local advertising and media for Wilkinson Sword in the UK remains with O&M.

Abbey Life has shortlisted six direct marketing agencies for the launch of a direct selling operation next year.

Whitehall Laboratories is still looking for an agency to handle the estimated 7m UK launch of the painkiller Advil. The company has considered a number of London agencies including its roster agency Publicis and Duckworth Finn Grubb Waters without making a decision.
