Engagement rumour does not ring true

Congratulations are not quite in order for Nick Milligan, sales director of Channel 5, who according to some trade magazines is a “playboy”.

The female contingent in the media industry had to be consoled following an announcement on Capital Radio that “TV supremo” Milligan was getting engaged.

All the tears were shed in vain, however, as Capital Radio DJ Dr Fox is a close friend of Milligan’s and decided it would be funny to announce a fictitious engage ment to bring Milligan and his partner closer together. What a wag.

The joke backfired, however, when the real Mrs Milligan – Nick’s mum that is – heard the rumour and assumed her son was keeping her in the dark.
