Maher Bird wins Marie Curie

Maher Bird has won the Marie Curie Cancer Care advertising account in a four-way pitch against Bartle Bogle Hegarty, Ogilvy & Mather and Impact FCA!

The victory comes as Maher Bird announces the appointment of a business development director with primary responsibilities for new business. Elly McDonald, former new business manager at Walsh Trott Chick Smith, takes on this new role.

Managing director of MBA Stephen Maher, who has previously shared the new business duties with planning director Mark Tomblin, says: “As the business grows, this is a natural development.”

In the past six months, the agency has won a place on the COI roster, project work for Mercedes and the Xyratex IT company account. It has been given the 500,000 advertising business for Marie Curie as part of a drive to increase the profile of the UK’s largest cancer care charity.

Marie Curie’s marketing and fundraising director Peter Jennings says: “I am determined to raise the awareness and profile of Marie Curie to match our position as the 15th largest charity.”
