Scott Lynds marks new start with name change

Scott Lynds, the sponsorship, media sales and production company, has relaunched as the Big Group, five months after losing managing partner Simon Lynds.

The name change is designed to reposition the group as a total marketing communications company. After Lynds’ departure, the company suffered a succession of account losses on its media sales and sponsorship side.

Lynds joined Katz Media, formerly known as Independent Radio Sales as president, shortly after it lost two large radio sales contracts (MW March 15).

Carlton UK Sales took the airtime sales account for many cable TV channels, Channel 4 ended its contract with Scott Lynds and British Airways appointed Lynds’ new company, Katz Media, to handle ad sales for its in-flight media.

The name change complements the name of the company’s design group, Big Design, and highlights the emphasis on television design and production activity rather than media and sponsorship sales. But the company still has an extensive portfolio of in-flight media sales accounts.

“The name of the company changed as the company grew,” says Nick Scott, managing director of the Big Group. “It has always been our intention to have a generic name rather than a list of personal names.”
