Playboy TV has confirmed the appointment of Maher Bird for its fourth quarter advertising campaign. The agency beat Mustoe Merriman Herring Levy, incumbent Saatchi & Saatchi and Branded, the agency run by Philip Ley (BSkyB’s former marketing director), to the 2m business. The campaign will directly target men and breaks this month.
BT has invited agencies to pitch for the 300,000 advertising business for its new satellite phone Mobiq, a lighter and smaller model produced in conjunction with Norwegian telecommunications company Telenor.
Ogilvy & Mather will launch a series of ads for Duracell’s PowerCheck battery (right). A 3m TV campaign will break this Friday (September 6). Duracell marketing director Glyn Harper says the two TV executions adopt an ‘in your face’ approach. In total, the company will spend 10m from September to January on marketing its AA battery which carries a strip that allows its power level to be monitored.
Atco-Qualcast, the lawnmower maker, has appointed Wunderman Cato Johnson to handle its UK and European advertising and promotional activities, worth 2m.

H Samuel, the UK’s largest jewellery retailer, is to run a 2m press campaign, created by Mortimer Whittaker O’Sullivan, in the run up to Christmas.
