Country Music Television has awarded its 3m advertising account to Harari Page and Zenith. It starts broadcasting around the clock this month.

Since it launched in October 1992, CMT has been available to satellite subscribers in the UK and Europe, but only at limited times – in the UK between 6am and 7pm.

Harari Page has already been working on the CMT account and plans to launch a generic campaign in January next year.

Zenith won the media buying and planning account from John Ayling & Associates. Zenith already handles the media for BSkyB. In March CMT Europe ended its management contract with United Artists Programming and instead signed with BSkyB.

CMT reaches over 46 million homes in over 50 countries and features singers like Garth Brooks and Sheryl Crow.

“CMT has experienced tremendous growth in distribution since we began international expansion in 1992,” says David Hall, senior vice-president of cable networks in the Gaylord Entertainment Company, which co-owns CMT with Group W Satellite Communications.
